Ca nô tcha rabecada morrê!

A new album is said to be released in the next few weeks. Entitled "Ca nô tcha rabecada morrê!", it is a collection of various traditional pieces of Cape Verde music played on violin, an instrument that used to be a central element of the morna. "The aim of this record is to rehabilitate the key role of the violin in Cape Verdean tradition", says the producer, Armando Correio e Silva. "We hope that one side effect of this work will be to raise interest in violin among the young generations in Cape Verde".
Nonetheless, it should be emphasized that the musicians' way of playing is more tilted toward modern style. The accompaniment is relatively soft, consisting of a guitar, a cavaquinho, drums, and a bass.

Amo o vosso país, as vossas gentes, a vossa música.
